Absolute Disaster. Positive: None - Unfortunately, we were hugely let down by the door code mechanism for this property and were unable to access the apartment. We could not access the property to review the actual facilities provided effectively. Negative: We had pre-arranged with the host for a 2am arrival to the property as our flight into Tenerife did not land until 1am. This was all okay and flight details were shared with the host to confirm. Upon arrival we were able to open the gate to the main building but the code mechanism on the apartment door would not work. It appeared the device had low charge at times and that the code we were provide was incorrect. We attempted access for almost an hour and no luck. We were given a few different contact numbers prior to the anticipated check-in date by the host and told the host was accessible 24/7. We called and messaged the host multiple times between 2am and 8am with no answer or resolution. Our subsequent dealings with booking.com customer services was also abhorrent with alternatives provided that were either sold out already or in mainland Spain which was obviously not accessible from Tenerife. We were completely stranded on the streets of Tenerife. We had no access to basic facilities and this was also extremely dangerous for 4 women holding all their belongings at 2am. We had no choice but to give in at 8am and head back to the airport and book the next flight home as we had not slept for over 24 hours at this point and needed access to water and public toilets to tend to needs and freshen up the best we could. This absolutely destroyed out short weekend trip away. Our excitement and plans were completely ruined. We had prepaid plans that were non-refundable. All in all, the issue and so called "assistance" we received caused and unexplainable level of distress. We only felt safe once we were back at the airport and like punch-line to this absolute joke, the host finally messaged after 9am to offer to check the lock if we had not already paid for new flights. We had already checked in. It might have been a different situation if the host was contactable as advised. However, be cautious that a similar situation could easily happen to you!
